"*" About Us

Stewart Melrose (Bathgate) Ltd first began recycling during 1972, the core business activity being used commercial vehicles and their component parts, predominantly sourced from end of life vehicles (ELV's). To this end the Company became one of the UK's leading Exporters of used commercial vehicle spare parts.

The decision to expand into general waste management was made during 1999, after much research into various recycling techniques and visits to recycling facilities in Europe and America.

Work began on the Scotwaste Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) during 2000 on our own 24 acre site situated on the M8 corridor in Central Scotland, adjacent to Junction 4. This location ensures that we are strategically placed to service and accept waste from most major towns in Central Scotland. Not only does our MRF offer a full waste disposal service to Central Scotland's Waste Carriers, but we are able to offer recycled top soil, back fill and construction materials to local users.

Also during 2000, we purchased a 125 acre site midway between the M8 and M9 motorways, with the view of applying for landfill use in the future.

Furthermore in 2006, we purchased 9 acres in Livingston to allow us the option to expand our operations into West Lothian's largest town.

To raise environmental awareness and help make the younger generation more waste conscious, we welcome educational visits to our site by local schools, etc, where talks and demonstrations on recycling can be given. Please contact us for further information.
